Hair Removal

Hair Today...Gone Tomorrow

Removing unwanted hair is time consuming, sometimes painful and frustrating part of our lives. Today, approximately 80 percent of men and women aged 16-60 regularly remove facial and body hair. LHE light based hair removal answers your needs.

LHE hair removal releases controlled strong pulses of light and heat that target the melanin in the hair shaft and convert light to heat inside the follicle which damages the hair bulb and root. This action destroys the cells, inhibiting hair growth at its source.

Treatments are performed every 4 to 6 weeks for several months depending on the body part and its hair growth cycle. The number of required treatments varies, but most require 6 or more for effective long term removal.

Common Treatments Areas:

  • Unwanted facial hair
  • Back & Neck
  • Bikini Line
  • Underarms
  • Nipples
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Toes & feet
  • Knuckles & hands
  • Ears

Why is the timing between appointments varying for different body parts?

It is very important to keep the treatments consistent as it takes approximately 8 to 12 weeks for the body, 5 to 9 weeks for the face and 10 to 14 weeks for legs to develop the next crop of active hair roots and develop the pigment, which is the target. There is no problem having your treatments more frequently but they will be less efficient and you will essentially need more treatments to complete the process.

Why do I need multiple appointments?

Your hair grows in cycles and there are three phases of hair growth per cycle. It is only at the Anagen stage or first phase when hair removal works, as this is the only phase where the hair is still attached to the follicle. Because individual hairs are at different stages of growth at any given time, multiple treatments are required. The percentage of hair in the Anagen phase is not the same for every body part.

Why do I need a consultation and test patch?

It is important to have a patch test a minimum of 24 hours prior to your treatment so the technician can then choose and find the correct settings for your skin and hair type. This allows for a safe test before performing the full treatment. A thorough consultation allows your technician to fully explain the process and results.

Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

The level of pain depends on the skin and hair type as well as the pain threshold. There is minimal discomfort that quickly dissipates. Treatments using IPL are much more tolerable and the treatment time tends to be much quicker due to the large size of the hand piece. As with all machines, skin may appear red and mildly swollen immediately after the treatment and can last from 2-24 hours. Aloe or Hydrocortisone can be applied to help soothe and cool the skin.

Should I wax or pluck hair between appointments?

No, it is not advisable. It will remove the hair from the follicle, leaving no target for your next laser treatment. This may also disrupt the growth cycle of the hair and render your laser hair-removal treatments less effective. However, you may shave or trim hair between treatments, as neither will affect the growth cycle.

Who cannot get laser hair removal?

It is best to consult with your physician to determine if laser hair removal is right for you. Not everyone is a candidate for laser hair removal, including individuals with:

Treatments should be postponed for anyone who has had recent or upcoming sun exposure. Skin that has been recently exposed to the sun has more melanin (pigment) in the skin, which can absorb the energy from the light rather than the hair. Sun exposure should be a minimum of 3 weeks before and after a treatment as the skin will be more sensitive to the sun. If skin will be exposed, use adequate sunscreen at all times.

Can Laser prevent ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs can be caused by almost every hair removal method, except Laser. Waxing and shaving can result in breakage of the hair. The tugging on the hair causes the hair to break half way while the rest of the hair remains attached. The hair then tries to grow but has been disrupted causing the hair to coil. The result is then a large red swollen ingrown hair. Laser can effectively treat and prevent ingrown hairs from happening in the first place. The laser treatment can still target the hair inside the ingrown and the heat helps eliminate any bacteria inside of the follicle.

Can I have Skin Rejuvenation/Laser Hair Removal while using Botox or Fillers?

Hair Removal: Botox injections can be done a week before or a week after the laser hair removal. They are not recommended at the same time.
Skin Rejuvenation: Dermal Fillers like Juvederm, Restylane or Perlane injections are recommended two weeks prior to your skin rejuvenation appointment to better preserve your results.
